Better Living Through Your Own Genuine Psychic Potential
by Daniel Walker
Chapter 13 - The Mirror of Shalzum
The Mirror of Shalzum is a meditative technique developed by the 15th century mystic Halnif Shalzum. Originally it was practiced before a mirror, but a pool of still water or a faceted crystal will work just as well. Remember: the power to change your life comes from within you.
This technique will help you to see the true potential within yourself. Think back on your life. How much could you have achieved if you'd had a few more lucky breaks? If you had more self-confidence? If you were just a little smarter? By using your own genuine psychic potential, you can recreate these what-ifs as sources of inspiration and wisdom in your own life.
Close your eyes in front of your "mirror" and clear your mind of any distractions. Focus on who you are and your place in the world. Think positive thoughts about your past and future. When you are in a completely peaceful, positive frame of mind, open your eyes. Your genuine psychic potential will extend your perceptions into inner space, where you can see yourself not only as you are but as you might have been. Perhaps you have the potential to be a movie star, or a CEO—the Mirror of Shalzum can give your genuine psychic potential energy and focus.
Do not use this techinique if you're not ready for exciting, life-changing revelations! You should also not use this technique if you are depressed or unhappy with yourself—if you look at yourself with negative expectations, you'll only see negative things. Shalzum himself has a pearl of wisdom for the modern psychic practitioner:
"...be ware never to gaze into the Mirror with evil intent or with no intent, for truly that which may be a window may be also a Gate. An it be that thou dost not follow the truest of all paths, so also is thy path not the most crooked. Be ware, lest thou be the parent of an enfant terrible."
Remember: the vibrations you create when you perceive yourself can have very real effects on your own energy and your life. Be careful that you use your mirror as a time to focus on what you love about yourself, and not as a time to be self-critical. Things are never so bad that you can't stop to count your blessings!
