Lillian Bones
1900-1935
Lillian Bones was, under unexpected circumstance, born in the house on 27 Spruce Street. Her mother and father, Anne and Lyle Bones, had lived in the neighborhood for years and when they knew a child was on the way, bought a new house on 25 Spruce Street. One day, when Anne was 8 months pregnant and taking tea at the neighbor's her water suddenly broke. A few hours later, Lillian was born. She lived at 25 Spruce Street her entire life, and had always felt a strange connection to the house. Her parents died when she was a teenager and she spent the rest of her life and her inheritance researching 27 Spruce Street, trying to unlock its mysteries and the lives of its past owners. One cold January morning in 1935 Lillian was found frozen to death on the front steps of 27 Spruce Street, a smile on her face and piles of her notes on the house in her stiff hands.
