Keltric Oak

This is the local name for lumber taken from the semi petrified groove of oak trees on the eastern side of the Lovecraft University campus. The trees have have large amounts of Cerate in their structure. This would not be unusual except for the fact that despite this high concentration of mineral deposits, the trees are continuing to grow. Even stranger is the fact that new growth shows levels of Cerate stronger than those of old growth.

Scientist are currently in dispute over whether the trees are natural or simply a result of the Brumbolt Corporation's fiddlings. Natural theorists believe that trees are a relic from a point in time when the now extinct fain wasp had a cicada like life cycle.

The mineral content of Keltric oak makes it a unique medium to work with. It very slightly magnetic, fire retardant, warp resistant, and with proper care can even be welded. While actual harvesting of the wood is prohibited, citizens are allowed to scavenge wood that has already fallen.

One example of such sculpture is the Compass of Knowledge which sits in front of the main office of the Clark County Observer. Some believes this work and it's antiquity appearance to be a fraud perpetrated by the Brumbolt Corporation to hide the effects of their pollution, while others claim it as evidence that even nature is more creative on Spruce street.
