From the archives of the Clark County Observer, July 2nd, 1996
When you first enter the Clark County Historical Society, you come to a giant archway with a strange set of teeth hanging above it with a phrase written underneath it, "peto nex ut reperio vita" or the English, "Seek death to find life."
These are the Jaws of Fate, supposedly pulled from the mouth of a Remalchek by Xavier Szelkac when he first moved into 27 spruce street, and one of the only remaining items that we have from the father, as he lived at 27 for only a few months before being consumed by the first fire that destroyed the house. These jaws, and the plaque that they hang on are all that remains. According to the legend, these teeth if used in the propper manner can cure serious wounds, but if they were able to do this, how it was done is no longer known to us. The only possible way that this could be learned is if one were to dig deep enough into the Clark County Archives where there may be more information, but as of now, no research is under way.
Regardless of how they were used, this set of jaws is a stunning sight, and it sets the imagination running for interesting ways to connect it to biology.
