Verliska

The city of Verliska is both the second largest and the wealthiest of the free cities of Catob. It's location at the foot of Mount Terith gives it control of the largest deposits of iron, gold, and Aluricite yet found. To prevent workers from stealing from the mines, the city has forbiden the unauthorized sale of minerals within it's walls.

The city itself is an Oligarchy, lead by the families who own the mines. The city keeps a very well trained 'watch' in addition to each family's private guards. The few times the oligarchs have put aside their perpetual scheming to work together the city has been able to produce a surprisingly strong army.

Within the city can be found many of the worlds best smiths, as well as the head quarters of the Money Changers' guild. Many of the families have hired scholars from Hakutsu University to teach their children. Unoffically, many of these scholars are also used to try and find new areas to mine on the mountain.
