Eason of Sout

Born 15 Artch, Year of the Barely Angry Eel; Died 26 Phalgaust, Year of the Somewhat Emancipated Toad.

Eason of Sout was born the second son of the First High Autarch of Undar. Always jealous of his father and older brother, Eason had them both assassinated when he turned 13, the youngest age at which a ruler could then ascend to the thrown. He did this using his unusually close ties to the Dark Hand of Undar.

Early in his rule, he took the unforseen step of outlawing worship of all gods but Uum. This led to the infamous but seldom metioned Burning of the Monastery at Sout. Over 3000 monks died in the incident. As Eason stood at the highest temple on Mount Sout, covered in the blood of his pacifist victims, he took the name of Sout as a sick joke.

After setting this greusome example to his subjects, he returned to his throne, where he forcefully dismantled the thousand year old guild system and gave tyranous underground organizations the run of the economy. He set up a new and unstable currency system, the lartum, which survived its trials through the sheer tenacity of Undar's citizens.

Eason died a silent death in his bed, having survived eight wars started by him, two invations, and thirty-five separate coup attempts. He tripled the size of Undar, but lowered its population in the process. The texts of Undar paint him a brilliant leader. Any sane observer must call him a deranged despot.
