Catob

The "country" of Catob, if we even care to give it such an honorific, lies between Undar and Matratut. It borders the Wasted Lands on the south, and the Boundless Ocean to the north.

Originally part of Matratut, it foolishly rejected the Incarnation of Uum when He arrived in Matratut. Undar took it in until Eason of Sout, in his wisdom as a ruler, brought Uum's justice to that land as well. It was caught between Undar and Matratut when the war broke out, and survived only because the nations needed neutral ground to meet on - The Wasted Lands obviously not being an option.

Modern Catobites exist in an almost primitive state. Worship of Uum is all but outlawed. Immigration is nearly impossible, thank Uum, though emigration of those seeking true happiness remains a common occurance. The country is kept around mostly by archaeologists; between Matratut's enthusaism for the Incarnation and Eason's edict that all heretical art be destroyed at the start of his reign, Catob remains the only major source of pre-Incarnation artwork.

Usually the pre-Incarnation period is referred to as the Catobi period, while the post-Incarnation period of isolation is the Catobite period, the so-called "Free Cities of Catob."
