Apostate of Matratut

A rogue organization of sworn priests of Uum who have defected, suspected to be working with Catobite rebels. Over the years a number of terrorist acts, natural disasters, and other freak events have been attributed to them. Most notably, they are credited with the Eclipsed Dinner.

The Great Uum has declared membership in the group heretical, punishable by exile. To date the only person exiled has been Talima Mega, the infamous oracle. One would expect, if the Apostate is capable of such terrific actions, their member's prophecies would be correct at least once.

The Apostate has never operated out in the open, and its ideological basis is sketchy at best. Usually they are associated with the Outsider heresy. Because of the lack of evidence for their existence, most believe the true Apostate died out shortly after the Great Uum extended his reach through Matratut a millenium ago. Anyone claiming membership in the sect now is more likely to be trying to restart it, than actually belong to it.
